About

With me photography is a passion not a nine to five job.

I have been keen on photography from my teenage years, but it was not until I was in my twenties that I started getting serious about my photography.  By then I could afford (with a lot of saving up) to get the best of cameras (I’m a Nikon man) and accessories required to take my photography to the next stage. At the start I was very much into landscape photography, and took great delight in taking off in the car to remote parts of Scotland to capture images in all seasons and weathers.  If the truth be told I still do this as often as I can.  As time passed I was asked to start taking photographs at family and friends birthdays, engagements and various other functions.  This is what started me thinking, that photography could be more than just a hobby that I enjoyed, but a career that I could make a living from. I’m very much down to earth - not in the least arty farty.  I don’t see photography as an art form as such.  I see it as a chance to give clients images that remind them of important events in their lifes that they can treasure. If I have a photographic style then it would be photojournalistic - I try to take candid or spontaneous pictures of people and you’ll rarely see me asking people to pose for the camera.  These types of pictures capture the genuine moments and should tell a story.  I try as much as possible to blend into the crowd, but always being where the action is. Skillful with a camera as I am - I think that the most important skills I possess is being able to put clients at ease and communicate with them.  Althought a client may know what they basically want from a shoot, a few suggestions from myself can introduce them to other ideas that they had maybe not thought off. UpStylePhotos is my passion, and as such I gurantee 100% effort and commitment to every shoot I take on.  Be it a half hour child shoot in your own home or a 12 hour shoot on your wedding day.  Both will be undertaken with the same enthusism and a guarantee of professionalism and service to the best of my abilities. I have full Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance cover.
